In Mexico and Antigua we saw a lot of colonial as well as Mayan ruins. So when we visited the Hotel Santo Domingo which is a well restored Dominican monastery, I couldn’t help compare the experience of wandering amongst beautifully restored colonial ruins to visiting the partially restored Mayan ones. We personally enjoyed the latter more, as our imagination was more vivid that the concrete form given to the ruins by an architect, however talented. Here’s a photo essay that Shreesh put together.
